GUNN IMS

IMS is a specialized method of needle treatment used to alleviate chronic pain due to nerve damage. Peripheral Nerve damage is often the underlying injury to ongoing pain and may not be detected on various current radiographic investigations (ie x-Ray etc).

Grounded in western medicine, IMS was developed by Vancouver medical Dr. Chan Gunn who was awarded the Order of Canada in 2001 for his work in the treatment of chronic pain.

IMS utilizes fine solid needles designed to penetrate deep within muscle tissue to specifically target injured muscles that have become contracted and shortened from stress resulting in pain amount other symptoms. It may also be referred to as “dry needling”.
